Sport complex «Barys»

Perhaps in other Kazakh cities, as in the majority of countries, the number one sport is football, but in Astana it is hockey. The favorite team here is the Barys hockey club. Barys plays in the higher division of the Kontinental Hockey League and it plays home matches on the ice of this sports complex with the same name. The sports complex was built just before the 7th Asian Games as one of the key venues for the competitions.

The complex consists of the Kazakhstan Sports Palace and an ice rink built according to the requirements of the Olympic Committee. Apart from the training sessions and home matches of the Barys club also athletes of other winter sports train here. The complex includes an ice arena, a gym, a choreography hall, and a cardio-gym.
