Ailand – the ocean in the heart of the steppe
Oceanarium “Ailand” is a unique underwater world in the very heart of Eurasia and one of the most extraordinary oceanariums on the planet, as it is the farthest from the sea. Covering several thousand square meters, it is home to hundreds of species of marine and freshwater fish, rare sharks, rays, jellyfish, and other exotic sea creatures.
Visitors are invited on an exciting journey into the world of the ocean: a walk through a transparent tunnel over 70 meters long where sharks and rays swim overhead, vibrant tropical aquariums with coral reefs, and themed zones that reveal the secrets of marine life across the planet. The oceanarium’s atmosphere gives a feeling of complete immersion in the underwater world, making it a perfect place for a family visit.

History
The Oceanarium “Ailand” is the first of its kind in Kazakhstan and the only one in the world listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most distant oceanarium from any sea or ocean — located more than 3,000 kilometers away.
The Oceanarium holds 3 million liters of water and is home to nearly 3,000 marine creatures representing more than 100 species of sea life from around the globe. Different zones showcase the inhabitants of the freshwater regions of South America and Southeast Asia, as well as coastal deep-sea areas and coral reefs.
The Oceanarium consists of three large exhibition zones with 20 aquariums of various sizes. Its main attraction is the giant aquarium featuring a 70-meter-long transparent tunnel made of acrylic glass 7 cm thick, equipped with a moving walkway beneath the main tank — offering visitors an unforgettable view of the underwater world.
The Oceanarium’s ecosystem is maintained by a unique closed-loop water preparation and purification system. Using Red Sea salt, the water is regularly purified and reused, requiring no drainage.
