The Astana Puppet Theatre was officially opened on December 29, 2010, by the decree of the Akim (Mayor) of Astana. This event became a significant milestone in the cultural and spiritual life of the capital.

Today, the repertoire of the Astana Puppet Theatre includes not only performances based on ancient legends and folk tales but also adaptations of international literary works. Among the theatre’s productions are “The Legend of Love” by K. Yeshmuratova, “Magic Words” by M. Toybayev, “I Drew It Myself”, “Do as I Do”, “Incidents on the Streets of Our City” by A. Salaeva, “Atameken” by S. Zhunusov, the Japanese folktale “How the Echo Appeared”, “The Forest Tale”, “The Power of a Mother”, the Kazakh folktale “The Old Man Tumbleweed”, “Oh, Toba” by E. Zhuasbek, “The Lion King” by I. Michi, J. Roberts, and L. Wolverton, “The Soldier’s Kettle” by Z. Sagalov and L. Zhadanov, “The Little Mermaid Revisited” by H. C. Andersen, “You Are Me” by H. Yurkovsky, “Three Merry Gnomes” by N. Shuvalov, “The Tricks of Laziness”, “Er Tostik” by K. Ezhembek, “The Eternal Child Image” by R. Mukanov, and many others.

The Astana Puppet Theatre continues to delight its audiences with inspiring performances and a repertoire that is constantly renewed with fascinating new works, bringing joy and creativity to children and adults alike.
