It was opened in 2013 on the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The Astana Opera– the largest theater in Central Asia, was built taking into account the best classical traditions of world architecture, while the Kazakh national flavor is emphasized in the architecture; its technical equipment meets international standards.
The full name of the monument is "Astana - Baiterek". The initiator of the project was the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev himself, the architect was Akmurza Rustembekov. A large number of concrete and metal structures and glass were used in the construction. The cost of materials was about $ 6 million. The construction was completed in 2003. The height of the monument is 102 m along with the ball and the diameter of the ball is 22 m. The monument is very large and majestic. Its lower level goes underground by 4 meters and there are cafes, aquariums and a mini gallery "Baiterek". From there there is an elevator going up to the ball, where there is a bar and a panoramic hall. The monument attracts many tourists and excursions are conducted in different languages, including Kazakh and Russian.
In March 2018, the project received a LEED GOLD certificate.
