Young Spectator’s Musical Theater of the Akimat of Nur-Sultan was founded on October 1, 2020. The grand opening of the theater took place on December 14 in the run-up to the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On this day, the theater performed the musical drama “Abai-Togzhan”.
The first season started with Mukhtar Auezov’s musical drama “Abai-Togzhan”, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the great poet and philosopher Abai Qunanbaiuly. Staging by Miras Abil, directed by Askhat Maymirov, musical advisor – Dimash Kudaibergen, stage designer – Alma Syrbaeva, composer – Bauyrzhan Aktayev, sound engineer – Maksat Eskali, lighting designer – Aydin Dossayev, choreographer – Shyryn Mustafina, choirmaster – Galymzhan Berekeshev.
The theater Chief Manager is Askhat Mayemirov, an Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, PhD, graduate of the Bolashak International Presidential Program. On September 28-30, 2020, casting was organized and more than 50 talented artists were selected. The theater's troupe includes Samal Yeslyamova, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, winner of the 71st Cannes International Film Festival and Nika Prize of the Russian Academy of Cinematic Arts; Ayan Utepbergen, Asylkhan Tulepov, and Daria Bolsanbek – laureates of the Daryn State Youth Prize; Rasul Usmanov and Salamat Mukashev – winners of international competitions; Orazaly Igilik, Aman Gumarov and others.
The Young Spectator’s Musical Theater’s goal is to contribute to the cultural development of the country; boost cognitive, educational, creative potential of children and adolescents by familiarizing them with spiritual values; and stage national and world musical performances.
