On December 29, 2010, the Puppet Theater of the Akimat of Nur-Sultan was opened. This event has become one of the most significant events in the cultural life of our capital.
Currently, Togzhan Khasangalieva holds the position of Chief Manager of the theater. She is a candidate of cultural studies, awarded with the Order of Urmet and the Medal in Honor of the 25 Year Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Professor Kurala Eishmuratova is the Artistic Director of the theater. She is the Honored Artist of Kazakhstan, the recipient of the Order of Friendship of Peoples, the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Kurmet Order, the Medal for Distinguished Labour, "Veteran of Labor" Medal, and the Medal in Honor of 25 Year Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Aizhan Salaeva is the stage director. She is the nominee for the Best Actress in a Leading Role Award (2011) and the recipient of the Medal in Honor of 25 Year Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Today, the repertoire of the Puppet Theater includes national legends, fairy tales, and foreign original works, such as “The Legend of Love” by K. Eshmuratova; “Magic Words” by M. Toybaev; “I Painted It”, “Do As I Do”, and “Accidents on the Roads of our City” by A. Salaeva; “Atameken” by S. Zhunusov; Japanese folk tale “How the Echo Appeared”, “Forest Tale”, “Ana Kudireti”, Kazakh folk tale “Graybeard-Tumbleweed”, and “Oh, Toba” by E. Zhuasbek; “The Lion King” by I. Mecchi , J. Roberts, L. Woolverton; “The Soldier's Bowler” by Z. Sagalov and L. Zhadanov; “Once Again About the Little Mermaid” by G.C. Andersen; “You Are Me” by H. Yurkovskiy, “Three Cheerful Gnomes” by N. Shuvalov; “Tricks of Laziness” and “Er Tostik” by K. Yezhembekov; “Mangilik Bala Beine” by R. Manov, etc.
