Тhe ballet "Swan Lake"
Tchaikovsky's ballet in 2 acts, 4 scenes
Libretto by Vladimir Begichev and Vasily Geltser
Choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov
The masterpiece of world musical classics, the ballet "Swan Lake", was composed by the composer in 1875 on commission by the Directorate of the Imperial Theatres of Moscow. The basis of "Swan Lake" is a widely known fairy tale folklore story about a girl transformed into a bird by the power of evil spells. In Tchaikovsky's ballet, Prince Siegfried acts as Odette's savior, but his betrayal, predetermined by fate, becomes an inevitable tragic fault. To the prince's castle ball comes Odile, strikingly similar to Odette, but not the timid and tender Odette, rather the enticing and cunning one. Breaking the vow of fidelity, Siegfried, in essence, remained true to Odette. However, realizing the mistake made, he asserts his love in the fight against the evil genius Rothbart.
Premiere at "Astana Opera" on March 8, 2018
