Lectures on art with Olga Baturina in Astana
12:00 Ancient Egypt
The art of Egypt is one of the first to appear on the Planet. And it is radically different from everything that existed both before and after it. Arising from the desire to perpetuate Kings and pay homage to the Gods, its main and distinctive driving force is the power of Death. Terrible, but desirable, because the ancient Egyptians saw in it the source of eternity and greatness.
At the lecture, we will admire the masterpieces of Ancient Egypt:
* The Temples of Queen Hatshepsut, Amun in Luxor and Karnak, Ramses II in Abu Simbel
* A bust of Nefertiti and a sculpture of the goddess Ishtar
* The Golden mask and the throne of Tutankhamun
* A paired statue of Rahotep and Nofret
* Paintings and reliefs of Egyptian temples
15:00 Ancient Greece
European culture grew out of Ancient Greece: we borrowed the canons of beauty, subjects and even the very understanding of art from the Greeks.
At the lecture we will see all the masterpieces of ancient Greek art:
* let's remember the era of Alexander the Great and the Wonders of the World;
* let's take a close look at the Acropolis of Athens, imagine what it was like in the era of Pericles, and what belongs to the great Phidias in it;
* let's admire the masterpieces of Polycletus, Myron, Praxiteles, Leochard, Scopas — the standards of sculpture that will be followed for the next centuries;
* and also find out how the art of the Archaic, classical and Hellenistic periods differs
