- Lecture on Art Nouveau
Lecture on Art Nouveau
The lecture will showcase the most striking artists of Art Nouveau. The unique architecture of Antoni Gaudí, whose buildings blend eras and styles, has shaped the modern appearance of Barcelona. The color and temperament of this architecture are memorable at first sight.
No less expressive are the experiments with color and form, textures and lines, images and plots in the painting of Art Nouveau. The lecture will explore the work of two outstanding painters of this period - Gustav Klimt and Alphonse Mucha.
Diving into the most interesting stages of Klimt's creativity - from his fascination with the gold of Ravenna mosaics to the vibrancy of Japanese color woodcuts and Kabuki theatre. Showcasing such paintings as "The Kiss" and "Goldfish," "Nuda Veritas" and "Tree of Life," exploring the mystery of his creativity and fate.
The speaker, Olga Baturina, a professor of art history, presents the material in a storytelling format. Those who are new to art note the accessible delivery, while connoisseurs appreciate the depth and breadth of information.
Lectures last about 1.5 hours, after which attendees can ask questions to the speaker, discuss the topic, and download the presentation in PDF for self-study.
