"Astana Arena" stadium

If before Kazakhstan was not widely known in the world, at the beginning of the 21st century it is increasingly prominent in world medium as a site of major events in politics, culture, and sports. The authorities pay serious attention to building sports infrastructure, which meet and sometimes even surpass international standards.

The Astana Arena stadium was one of the first such developments. Kazakhstan hosts regular football championships, and one of the best senior-division teams, Nur-Sultan, trains and plays home matches here. Thus you always have the opportunity to see “big-league” football in a large arena in Astana.

The official opening took place in July 2009. Astana Arena is one of only six football stadiums in the world with a movable roof 10,000 square meters in size. The stadium can accommodate 33,000 spectators.

Astana Arena is also the home stadium for official meetings of the Kazakhstan national football team. Though focused primarily on football, the design of the stadium allows it to be adapted for other sporting events such as wrestling, judo, and boxing.
