"Alau" Ice Palace

"Alau" – the gates to the city. It is the first grandiose structure that is seen by everyone flying into Astana. During the design of Ice Palace “Alau”, the architects were inspired by the nature of Kazakhstan: spring steppes with thawed patches of melted snow – green elements on the façade of the building; and the first, rising to the sun snowdrops – three yellow administration towers.
The architectural concept has found its way in the Palace logo, in which the three elements are enclosed.
The green colour symbolizes renewal, youth and spring.
Blue – represents the ice arena – the foundation of the facility.
Orange, a fiery colour – is the name of our facility.
A combination of these elements for us is our source of energy. Thanks to this symbiosis we obtain "flaming ice". "Alau" is a temperamental, partial and energetic project, whose team is always aiming to new achievements, athletes – to new records.
During the VII Asian Winter Games on the ice of “Alau” was set 9 continental records. Ice Palace ranked 6th place (out of 641possible places) in world rating of speed skating stadiums.
"Alau" is a world-class ice palace. Ice Palace equipped with modern facilities, allowing the creation of "fast ice". Thanks to a unique architecture and location "Alau" regarded as a sight of Astana and the sport gates of the capital.
Also there are major international competitions, training camps. Winter sport types: Speed skating, figure skating, short track, hockey with a puck, ball hockey and curling are popular in the "Alau". Here you can see more than 500 children - inmates of specialized youth sports schools of Astana city.
From 2011 Champion’s ice is available to amateurs. On the days of Mass Skating everyone is allowed to skate. «Мass Skating» season opens from October till April, and from May starts “Summer sport center” project and ends in August.
